Our Vision

Fresh Local Food for ALL

OUR MISSION is to increase access to fresh, local, affordable, healthy food for our neighbors, create new economic opportunities for local farmers, develop young people through agriculture, and conserve natural resources for future generations.

OUR FOCUS is to support people from diverse backgrounds and help them make a difference in the communities where they live through programs designed to make fresh, local food accessible for all.

Flint River Fresh Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

MORE THAN A GARDEN

Community gardens are not just for food provision. They are also an educational tool, teaching residents how to grow their own groceries, functioning as outdoor classrooms for students, and providing a safe gathering space for children and neighbors. Additionally, we aim to build community urban farms where we transform vacant and abandon lots into food oases to feed our neighbors and make fresh food more accessible.

FOOD CONNECTOR

We work tirelessly to make fresh, locally-grown, seasonal food is available to all. We have built relationships through the region to connect people to their food source whether it is organizing “Know Your Farmer” Days at local schools as a part of the “Harvest of the Month” program or working with local churches to deliver fresh produce boxes to seniors. We are constantly working to make sure no food is wasted and available to those who need it.

OUR PILLARS

  • Food Access - promote community health and wellness by ensuring better access to fresh, healthy, and locally grown foods

  • Stewardship / Conservation - enhance conservation efforts in a small farm or urban setting

  • Market Opportunities - create new economic opportunities for farmers near Albany by serving as "food connectors"

  • Youth Development - engage the next generation in food and agriculture by learning about agricultural production (especially its importance in SOWEGA) and healthy eating
