We would like to introduce you to Flint River Fresh, a recently formed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Albany, Georgia.  

Our mission is to increase access to fresh, local, affordable healthy food for our neighbors, create new economic opportunities for local farmers, and develop a new generation of youth agri-preneurs.

2019 PROJECTED PLANS

Pop-Up Farm Stands

  • Bi-monthly Pop-Up Farm Stand at SOWEGA Council on Aging, Pretoria Fields. Albany Housing Authority, and YMCA

Youth Development

  • Create a Youth Afterschool Program with Albany Recreation & Parks and Boys & Girl Club

  • Install School Gardens at Magnolia Pre-K and Phoebe's Learning Tree Early Childhood Development Center

  • Harvest 1,000 pounds of produce from school gardens

Grow Your Groceries

  • Offer Backyard Gardener classes at Albany Technical College during Fall and Spring Terms

  • Hosting Grow Your Groceries classes at Mark's Greenhouse during the Fall and Spring growing season

  • Create how-to-tip videos for backyard gardeners

Fresh Community Urban Farm Projects

  • Host "Plant It, Eat It, Repeat" Gardening Classes at Community Garden Sites

  • Harvest 10,000 pounds of locally-grown produce from garden sites to supply Pop-Up Farm Stands and WIC/Senior's Farmer's Market

  • Establish mini-farms at church properties, community centers, and schools

Small Farmers Distribution Network

  • Highlight 1 to 2 locally-grown fruits and vegetables at schools, restaurants, and grocery stores every month

Seed to Sanctuary

  • Distribute Fresh Produce Boxes with 6 to 8 fruits and vegetables to Albany Housing Authority Communities every 5th Sunday.

  • Establish mini-farm on church properties to grow produce for Fresh Boxes and Pop-Up Farm Stands
